SAQ use and scoring

Andrew, CV Outcomes is in the process of working out policies and pricing for use of the SAQ in protocols such as yours, so thanks for your inquiry. In addition, we’re going to offer a variety of alternatives for you to consider for a “data service” that would simplify the collection and calculation of the scores. We’ll get you more information soon.
Andrew,
In addition to the comments of Stan, I would like to add that while the SAQ Angina Frequency scale can be used alone (i.e. it was independently validated and shown to be reliable, responsive and prognostic of mortality and ACS admissions), it does not seem wise to not also want to measure the consequences of angina (i.e. its impact on physical function and quality of life). Thus, I do not recommend using only this scale alone in quantifying the patient-centered benefits of a new therapy. Please let me know how else we can help.

Dr Spertus,
I am Dr Jitender Munjal, a resident in The Jewish Hospital, working with Dr Glueck. We will be using Seattle Angina Questionnaire. Do you have any computing tool where scores can be calculated by entering data from SAQ? As per my discussion with Dr Glueck,if there is any charge then let me know.

Please note this FAQ discussion about the available calculation tools for the SAQ as well as the KCCQ and PAQ. There is also this discussion specifically about the Calculators and their serial graphing capabilities.
Please post to this forum or email any further questions. Thanks for your interest!

We are currently in the process of designing an angiogenesis protocol
for patients with IHD. We would like to use an SAQ score for
inclusion criteria and as an endpoint.
1) How do we go about getting permission/license to use the SAQ?
2) Advisors recommended an inclusion criteria of an SAQ of 45 for the
two questions relatting to angina. How is this scoring conducted?
3) The above recommendation was based on an analysis of patients in a
previous angiogenesis trail. Patients entering the study with a
score of 45 (for the two angina questions) responded better to
therapy. Are you aware of any of “validation” of the use of the
angina questions alone for the SAQ?
Thank you kindly
Andrew Hinson
